Today’s AFCEA Atlanta Small Business Event, hosted at Dobbins Air Reserve Base brought out Colonel Jerald H. Narum, Dir/HQ AFRC/A6, Director of Air Force Reserves. He provided a great overview of the Commands’ focus on Cyber Security and how they are systematically utilizing best in breed technology to ensure their systems are secure and attracting top talent to engage in today’s Cyber warfare. Awesome to have my son Garyn with me for the Event. He did an awesome job manning the table and represented IBEX well!
AFCEA awarded Gabriel Savage, Aerospace student at Morehouse College with ROTC Dual enrollment at Georgia Tech with a $1500 Scholarship. He is a bright young man!
Maj.Andrea M.Walthour, Commander and Mr. Jimmy Woodruff did a great job coordinating the event. Thanks Kathy Swacina for getting us engaged!
The National 8(a) conference was a hot ticket last week. I know that many are uncertain because of the new administration and all that presidential transitions always bring. Overall, there was a lot of optimism in the sessions I attended and the theme was “Stay the Course.” If you are successful at what you are doing, keep doing it. Pending contracts aren’t going to go away over night. Any long lasting change in the Small Business Sector will take around 2 years to funnel down from the Fed, good or bad. My strategy of partnerships won’t change, however, as we continue to grow, I will look for additional Mentor Protege opportunities and to partner with larger firms to gain experience and capacity. Here’s to a successful 2017!!
